DJ Qbert, three time DMC world champion and pioneer of turntablism, is constantly taking his art to the next level, influencing aspiring DJs and the turntable pros alike.
Qbert has always been an advocate promoting the culture of turntablism, whether through live performances, his DIY DVDs, or on the internet. He has taken his drive to share and advance the art with his new online school:
Open this month (May 2009), the QSU (Qbert Skratch University, spelled with Q’s trademark “k” in scratch) uses a series of progressive videos to teach all levels of Scratching techniques from basic to exotic and beat juggling. This format of exchanging videos with a legendary Turntablist where the entire community learns is the first of its kind. Turntablists around the world use simple and innovative video management technology created by ArtistWorks. Student members post videos on the University site and Qbert responds to student videos, offering his personal guidance and suggestions.
DJ Qbert is the master, now YOU can be his apprentice.
